Best Blockbustercinema. King Kong on high gloss. CGI at a very high level and highly aesthetic color brilliance. Expensive cinema, with a trash impact. The action is, however, unconvincing, for example, if, contrary to the knowledge of Hank (who knows the island inside out), they want to go beyond the realm of the dead. The figures are also slightly contoured. Diverting entertainment with some laughs.

Bill Randa bekommt Fördermittel um eine Insel (Skull Island) zu erforschen, auf der sich Monster rumtreiben. Dies hält er aber geheim. Mit Soldaten, die gerade im Vietnamkrieg gekämpft haben, einem Fährtenleser, einem Lieutnant und einer Kriegsfotografin machen sie sich auf zu der Insel in mehreren Helikoptern. Bestes Blockbusterkino. King Kong auf Hochglanz.  CGI auf ganz hohem Niveau und hoch ästhetische Farbbrillianz. Teures Kino, mit einem Trash-Einschlag. Die Handlung allerdings ist wenig überzeugend, zum Beispiel wenn sie wider besseren Wissens seitens  Hank (der die Insel wie seine Westentasche kennt) über das Totenreich gehen wollen. Auch die Figuren sind wenig konturiert. Kurzweilig und unterhaltsam mit einigen Lachern.
