The small Conor has to take care of his ill mother. He gets regularly beaten at school. He is also plagued by nightmares. One night, he wakes up seven minutes after midnight, and the yew standing at the church turns into a tree monster and comes to Conor. The monster says it will tell Conor three stories and then Conor will tell him a story. The stories of the monster are very interesting parables about good and evil ...

The best film about mourning I've ever seen without ever becoming melodramatic. A tearjerker. Wonderful actors ensemble. A movie that has something to say. Brilliant! Must see!

Der kleine Conor muss sich um seine todkranke Mutter kümmern. In der Schule wird er regelmäßig verprügelt.  Außerdem wird er von Alpträumen geplagt.  Eines Nachts wacht er sieben Minuten nach Mitternacht auf und die Eibe, die bei der Kirche steht, verwandelt sich in ein Baummonster und kommt zu Conor. Das Monster sagt, es werde Conor drei Geschichten erzählen und dann soll Conor ihm eine Geschichte erzählen. Die Geschichten des Monsters, die im Film nach und nach eingestreut werden, sind sehr interessante Parabeln um Gut und  Böse...

Der beste Film über Trauerbewältigung, den ich je gesehen habe, ohne jemals melodramatisch zu werden. Da werden die Augen nass. Wunderbares Schauspieler-Ensemble. Ein Film, der wirklich etwas zu sagen hat. Brilliant! Unbedingt anschauen!
