Solipsistic, true-to-life film about the illusion of love.

Michael Stone ist Bestsellerautor im Bereich Kundenservice und reist in ein  Hotel in Cincinnati. Am nächsten Tag hat er eine Vorlesung. Den Abend verbringt er damit, seine verflossene Liebe wiederzutreffen, bis es zu einem Missverständnis kommt und die Geliebte davongeht. Das eigenartige ist, dass  für Michael alle Menschen die gleiche Stimme haben und das gleiche Gesicht. Sogar seine Frau und sein Sohn. Da freut er sich, Lisa zu begegnen, die eindeutig aus der Masse hervorsticht. Sie trinken zusammen Martini in der Hotelbar und verstehen sich ausgezeichnet...

Solipsistischer, realitätsgetreuer Film über die Illusion der Liebe.

 The stranded Hank wants end his life on the bank of an uninhabited area, until a shackled corpse, which constantly farts, excites his attention. He discovers that, using this fart, sitting on the corpse, he drifts forward rapidly in the water. A friendship develops between them. And Manny, the corpse, begins to talk. Thereby rough jokes are paired with philosophy.

The film makes sense only as grotesque. The background music is beautifull. The film searches for a solution for Manny, which is not found. And warning spoilers: Unless he is destined to glide over the sea by farting.


Der gestrandete Hank möchte sich am Ufer eines unbewohnten Gebietes das Leben nehmen, bis eine ans Ufer getriebene Leiche, die ständig furzt, seine Aufmerksamkeit erregt. Er entdeckt, dass er mithilfe dieser Furze, auf der Leiche sitzend, schnell im Wasser vorwärtstreibt. Es entwickelt sich eine Freundschaft zwischen ihnen. Und Manny, die Leiche, beginnt zu reden. Dabei paaren sich derbe Witze mit Philosophie.

Der Film macht nur als Groteske Sinn. Die Hintergrundmusik ist schön. Muss man sich aber nicht ansehen, denn er strebt innerlich immer nach einer Lösung für Manny, die nicht gefunden wird. Und Achtung Spoiler: Es sei denn er ist dafür bestimmt furzend übers Meer zu gleiten.

Frank, Spüli, Pommes and Mücke are 4 young friends from the Ruhrpott of the 80s and in love with Carola. Several strategies to conquer her miserably fail. In the meantime, the story is shown how Frank's father wins his wife. But also when dancing, as Frank's father did, the guys show up rather untalented. So a school trip convenient to them...

Also the guest appearances of Ralf Richter and Elke Heidenreich does not help enough to give the film a special note. The character presentation of the four main protagonists is boring and unworked. A trivial "American Pie" variant from the German West of the 80s.
 
Frank, Spüli, Pommes und Mücke sind 4  jugendliche Freunde aus dem Ruhrpott der 80er Jahre und in  Carola verschossen. Mehrere  Strategien sie aufzureißen scheitern kläglich.  Zwischendurch wird die Geschichte gezeigt, wie Franks Vater seine Frau für sich gewinnt. Aber auch beim Tanzen, wie es Franks Vater tat, zeigen sich die Jungs eher unbegabt.  Da kommt ein Schulausflug gelegen...

Auch die Gastauftritte von Ralf Richter und Elke Heidenreich helfen nicht genug, dem Film eine besondere Note zu geben. Die Charakterdarstellung der vier Hauptprotagonisten ist langweilig und unausgearbeitet. Eine triviale "American Pie"-Variante aus dem deutschen Westen der 80er Jahre.

The film, shot in a black-and-white, tells of a day in the life of Niko, a student who is quite a bit unfortunate: his father quits the money transfer, he gets caught up in a brawl, He also experiences an old man's heart attack.

Beautiful pictures, beautiful music. A tender film about the search for meaning of life of an unemployed metropolitan.

Der in schwarz-weiß gedrehte Film, erzählt von einem Tag im Leben des Studienabbrechers Niko, einem Berliner, dem ziemlich  viel Pech passiert: Sein Vater dreht ihm den Geldhahn zu, er wird von S-Bahn-Kontrolleuren erwischt, gerät in eine Schlägerei, außerdem  erlebt er , wie ein alter Mann einen Herzinfarkt erleidet. 

Schöne Bilder, schöne Musik. Ein liebevoller Film über die Sinnsuche eines arbeitslosen Großstädtlers.

Two corrupt policemen drive drunken through New Mexico, extort criminals, scrap cars, and take cocaine. Their boss gives them a "last chance". This does not impress them in the least, but then they get on a rather hot track.

Violence-glorifying, but exciting. The performance of Caleb Landry Jones is outstanding.

Zwei korrupte Polizisten  ziehen betrunken durch New Mexico, erpressen Kriminelle, schrotten Autos und nehmen Kokain zu sich.  Ihr Chef gibt ihnen noch eine "letzte Chance".  Dies beeindruckt sie nicht im geringsten, doch dann geraten sie auf eine ziemlich heiße Fährte. 

Gewaltverherrlichend, aber spannend. Die Leistung von Caleb Landry Jones ist hervorragend.

Jacob, a millionaire wants to put an end to his life, but fails in implementation. There he discovers a company that makes life-threatening people the way to the afterlife. He announces himself and waits when he dies. He meets Anne, falls in love, and wants to cancel his "journey". This is not achieved as planned.

Georgina Verbaan, her later role - I`m not byuing that! Which is why the film loses credibility. 

Jacob, ein Millionär, möchte seinem Leben ein Ende bereiten, scheitert aber bei der Durchführung. Da entdeckt er eine Firma, die lebensverdrossenen  Menschen  den Weg zum Jenseits bereiten. Er meldet sich an und ist ab sofort am Warten, wann denn nun er stirbt. Da begegnet er Anne, verliebt sich, und möchte seine "Reise" stornieren. Dies gelingt nicht so wie geplant.

Georgina Verbaan nimmt man ihre spätere Rolle nicht ab, weshalb der Film an Glaubwürdigkeit verliert.
